My Contribution

Stellaris is a grand strategy sci-fi space opera developed by Paradox Interactive who I was lucky enough to work with while at Eat Create Sleep. Being an already fully released game we were tasked with contributing to the release of expansions to the game and the 4.0 update. I was tasked with assisting the narrative designer and art team by implementing and designing gameplay elements for the “Wilderness” and “Hard Reset” player origins released with the Biogenisis and 4.0 update. My work involved writing event hooks into the clausewitz engine as well as using the engines scripting language to implement custom game events, including randomly generated dungeons and designing engaging gameplay for the already established stellaris playerbase. My more specific contributions include:

  • Gameplay design and implementation of the Hard Reset political system.

  • Gameplay design and implementation of the Hard Reset dungeon questline. 

  • Implementation of the Wilderness gameplay and overrides.

  • Designing the Wilderness growth stage.
